The leader communicates even when silent. Everything leaders say, do or write impacts their credibility and their followers’ self-esteem and commitment level. Everything counts. The spirited leader is both mentally and physically conscious and strives to communicate openly, clearly and effectively. Effectiveness is measured by how well the team members understand, and if the communication’s impact on the receivers aligned with the leader’s original intent and message.

Spirited leaders are able to be effective because they can answer yes to the following:

Am I conscious of all my communications, both verbal and non-verbal?
